Katie Wall Podracky is an impressionist painter creating her signature colorful paintings out of her studio in Greensboro, North Carolina. Featured in Our State Magazine in 2022, Katie’s work is southern, playful and full of joy, embodying over 25 years of exploring color, brushwork and the pure delight of moving paint on a surface.

A native of Asheboro, North Carolina, Katie began her artistic career at Washington and Lee University with a degree in art and biology. After college she pursued painting as a graduate fellow at Savannah College of Art and Design and earned a master’s degree in teaching from UNC Pembroke before teaching art in the public schools.

Katie’s love of nature and adventures with her family frequently inspire her paintings. In 2020, Katie and her family visited every N.C. State Park and she painted works from each location. What could have turned into one of the worst years of her life turned into one of the best. Currently Katie is experimenting with her own handmade paints based on the rich red clay soils from her childhood home and creating a new collection of landscapes. Her work is collected across the United States and featured in the permanent collections of four universities and multiple corporations & hotels.
