What is Included?
Monthly Art Skill Building
Each month, I’ll teach you skills and techniques to improve your paintings. I’ll demo paintings in real time and help you go step-by-step so you can create gorgeous art right from the first month. These are video based and accessible anytime, anywhere. You can slow them down, rewind and watch them as many times as you like. Art lessons include start to finish paintings with:
Watercolor (5 lessons and approximately 10 hours of instruction)
and
Oil paint (9 lessons and approximately 23 hours of instruction)
Any painting medium will work with my lessons, including acrylic and mixed media. You get to decide how to apply the lesson to your artistic practice and we will all cheer you on! I use both watercolor and oil paint in my own work depending on time, clean up and painting needs. Both materials inform my work and make me a better painter overall. I believe they do that for my students too.
Current lessons include: Salt marsh landscapes, colorful clouds, gentle sunsets, florals, dappled forest light, watercolor waves, intro to abstract art, better trees and introductory lessons in both oil painting and watercolor techniques. Every month I create a new lesson based on the needs and interests of members.
Coaching Calls and Creative Inspiration
Each month we meet via Zoom for a Q&A and to talk about the monthly art topic. You can choose to share your work and get feedback, ask any art questions you have, or sit back and take it all in. We also have periodic bonus guest speakers to inspire you on a variety of topics. These calls are also recorded and available anytime for folks who can’t make the live calls. Bonus guests have included art therapists, art pricing experts, artists who make their own paints and an artist who specializes in small detailed paintings and sourcing beautiful antique frames. Future ideas include more artist interviews, an expert on making art prints and a life coach to discuss time management and your creative practice.
Friendship, Community and Connection
The group includes access to our kind, uplifting community where you can reach out to other creatives, make friends and get personal feedback for your art. We currently post and interact in a private Facebook group.
Members of Leap of Art will have first access to any travel registrations and in-person workshops that I offer.
The details
Pricing
The membership is currently open for $33 a month. You can lock in the current monthly price for as long as you’d like to stay. You may cancel at any time before the next automatic monthly payment and you will not be charged again. If you would like to re-join the group at a later date, you must re-join at the current price, which will likely be higher than it is now.
Community
After you join, you have immediate access to a vault of fantastic art lessons, previous coaching calls, bonus interviews with guest artists and art professionals and a tool that helps reduce overwhelm to maximize your progress. Each month, we meet on Zoom for real-time feedback and help, and you are always welcome to share and post in our private community group. My only ask is that members are kind and supportive at all times in our community and that they offer feedback that is helpful, respectful and well intentioned. Members exhibiting unkind and unprofessional behavior in the group may be removed without refund.
Input
As a Leap of Art member, you will have great influence over the direction this group takes and the lessons I teach. I love incorporating student feedback into lesson planning and bonus guest content. Student suggested bonus speakers have included an art therapist, a life coach for time management, an artist who makes handmade watercolor paint, an artist who repurposes vintage frames for her work and an expert on pricing your art to sell. Future ideas include interior designers, floral designers, collage artists, artists who have perfected the craft of making gorgeous prints of their work, ceramicists and so many more to inspire you!
